Driving Instructor - Leeds
I was born & schooled in Yorkshire (West Leeds). I usually say I am from “Essex-shire” as my home was partly in Yorkshire & partly in Essex! My dad was an RAF pilot, so aircraft were a big part of my childhood, no surprise that I learned to fly single engine aircraft at Leeds Bradford & passed my PPL in my early 20’s.
I worked in the Insurance industry for many years (by choice) after achieving Chartered status, I was responsible for opening new branches building up business, then moving onto the next location. In my role I drove around 30k annual mileage up & down the country across all different road types. I have also advised some of the country’s largest Social Housing groups on their complex insurance programme.
After redundancy I re-trained as a driving instructor (again by choice, thanks for paying for that Dad!) & I passed all 3 parts first time & am now in my fourth year of business.
I love anything K9 & gym – Great Danes are my favourite dog and spinning is my favourite gym activity.
I am also a qualified DSA Fleet Assessor, carrying out “risk assessments” for large fleet operators. I assess experienced drivers to offer advice on best practise for safer driving as well as improving “environmental” techniques, save the dolphins! Of course, having “insurance” insight helps me here.
I keep up to date with industry matters by doing CPD & on-going training as much as time allows!
I am very thorough & ensure that you fully understand all issues surrounding control of the car, how to read the road and how to bring these two things together for safe confident driving. I will start your lessons on quiet roads until you are able to carry out the basics of driving without much help from me and then build you up to busier complex roads. My approach is teaching you safe driving for life not just how to pass your test.
You will get out of the lessons what you put into them, it’s a partnership so I look forward to working with you. I hope you will enjoy your lessons with me.
